Women are attracted to guys who are doing their thing: competency. Girls need to see a guy who is moving in a direction. Women feel these guys need to protect, provide, etc and its subliminal… they’re wired that way.
For those who have been depressed before… it is like having arthritis at age 23, you’re weak don’t want to get up. It feels like someone replaced your innards with sand, and you feel like an old man – not wanting to do anything. Drew had a different type of depression, agitation based… manic or anxiety.
Girl called asked about childhood trauma and being attracted to abusive people as they get older, she wonders if its trauma specific? Drew said no, it’s not trauma specific: girls go for assholes between the ages of 18-22/26 a phase for most women. She had a 1-2 year relationship where her boyfriend had drug issues and cheating – drew said makes him an addict; when he claimed to be sober he was abusive, twice… she got attached to an alcoholic and stayed with it, not a pattern for her, ie. she was attracted to alcoholic addicts? She was attracted to the addiction, and she stayed in long enough to see the … ALANON, go through the steps. Her father was an alcoholic, even though he wasn’t abusive to her she still seeks that character type. She could feel 1) Every guy that never got fixed becomes the moby dick, underline the dick part… a project that failed, one that got away, game they lost (Adam said guys usually don’t have that… hrmmm) or 2) making dad right once and for all… its the love and attachment for dad, the kind of person they love and the addiction intensifies need for attachment.
Drew: Women want Tom Hanks and Russell Crowe in the same guy… ie. want alpha male qualities, but can’t live with it.
Eva Longoria calls in, she is a friend of the guest.
