Adam opens the show by completely trashing the ABC show he hosted called the Great Domestic Showdown. It was a competition with people cooking, planning weddings, building things etc. to win the title as the next Martha Stewart essentially. The winner would get an appearance on Good Morning America, a pitch meeting with…someone, and a potential book deal. Adam told the executives that in addition to all that, they should give away a brand new GMC Denali. Middle America wants to see something tangible, not a book deal and a pitch meeting. You could ask GMC for one and they’d just give it to you if you put it on camera for a second. The executives lapped in up in the meeting and said Adam was exactly right and America wants to see a prize they can use and not just a pitch meeting.
Adam: “Fast forward to the end of the show tonight and me handing the winner a $69 Ryobi Drill that’s been spray painted silver and mounted to a piece of plywood. Looking like the gag gift at somebody’s bar-b-q. ‘This one’s going out to Phil McManus. Phil burned the most burgers this year!’ And as they were handing it to me to hand to the winner I said ‘don’t you remember the Denali conversation? Am I supposed to make a joke out of this? Hey you won so here’s a coke can with some elbow macaroni glued to it and some yarn around it. You can use it as a pencil holder.'”

Strange episode. The computer’s not working for the first two thirds of the episode so Adam and Drew have to rely on Engineer Ken to hang up on callers. Lots of bad phone lines and “can you hear me?” from callers. Only 2 male callers. Overall, a fun episode. Lots of calls.
The last 4 women are screwy as hell. Kinda hope their uteruses fall out

This might be a top 5 show of 2004 so far. I just wish we had Anderson and some drops. I’d also love to see the end of The Great Domestic Showdown. It’s funny the promo on YouTube has no sign of Adam.
