hearing Adam drop “ma nigga” in the first few minutes of the show was a good sign that this was going to be hilarious. and it was.
this is one of the greatest of a time. unbelievable. the ‘mercinary position’ call is the greatest radio ever.
Ct, that call with the guy who beat his brother up for being gay is clearly bogus. He starts the call off by giving completely irrelevant information. “You know my brother told me yesterday while we were at IHOP, chowing down a $6 burger that he has a fetish for men.” lol, what? The guys ask him why he has a problem with it and he says “my brother just told me he wants to become a butt-banger to men and a reach around guy.” Then Adam asks if it’s bogus and he says “no, my brother’s name is Johnathan.” The caller dropping someone’s name is usually a dead giveaway that they’re just trying to get on the radio and act a fool.
The first time I heard the ‘gay brother’ call, I came up with a theory that it was from Eminem. Sounds crazy, but, in addition to the similar voice:
-The guy is from Michigan.
-Homophobia was a common theme in Eminem’s earlier work.
-Eminem was a huge fan of “Crank Yankers” (therefore bogus calling in general).
-Eminem did once call in to the show, unsolicited, not as a guest.
But then I listened a couple more times and dropped that theory.
Adam and Drew gloss over a truly bizarre statement from the Satanist caller, which is that her “religion” does not believe there is a Hell. If you don’t believe in the place where your deity is supposed to reside, then…where does that leave you? Can you imagine Christians not believing in Heaven?
Pasta, “Satanists” don’t believe in Satan. They don’t believe of Gods of any kind.
From the Wikipedia page on the Church of Satan: “Satan is a model or a mode of behavior. Satan in Hebrew means ‘adversary’ or ‘opposer’; one who questions….”Satanism begins with atheism. We begin with the universe and say, ‘It’s indifferent. There’s no God, there’s no Devil. No one cares!'”
That Patrick caller has a certain cadence and theatric nature reminiscent of that guy who worked as a bookie or whatever at a Horse racing place (was hearing voices, thinking he could read their minds, etc.)
