This is a great show, it’s a shame it gets cut off.
Henry Rollins is on the air promoting a spoken word “concert” he has coming up. His standup is similar to the type Adam does now, in that he says he basically gets on the stage and tells stories/goes on rants with only the briefest preparation (An example of work happens near 0:37:0 when they play a cut from one of his spoken verse albums).
Adam declares Henry to be a good guest because he “knows radio” and moves the show along by asking pointed questions, cutting off the callers, and breaking Adam and Drew off to take more phone calls; beyond that everyone has great chemistry together.
Speaking of which, Dr. Drew is out of the studio during this episode and is coming at us live from Seattle; he is on a half second delay throughout the episode,
Around 0:33:00 Adam tells a hilarious story about how Drew used to buy condoms in Chinatown while he was in prep. school. Evidently the Pinskys lived in a small community and Drew was afraid that local pharmacist would rat him out to his dad (since they knew one another), so he “shrewdly” snuck into the local Chinatown whenever he needed a fresh box of rubbers.
I thought that second delay drew was experiencing was gonna drive me insane but they were aware of it and drew self with it for the most part. The guest is a comedian but has a dark vibe lol. Good short show
Also couldn’t believe drew got laid. You think his wife was listening? It seemed uncharacteristic of him and maybe it was payback for the last Larry flint show I forgot the name of the lady that was on haha
I’ve always thought Henry Rollins was what they call in AA a “dry drunk.” Non-addicts don’t have that kind of energy or that kind of anger issues.
