Show Summary:

CLL #24xx (feat. The Love Between The Two Hosts)
02/27/2005 – Sunday Night Show
Source – Tucker Stream Recording (2005) with a Fan Stream Recording (2005) Patch

This episode is 100% complete with a medium audio upgrade, the various file playback issues that plagued previous recordings are now absent as well. Dr. Drew is in San Antonio home of the newest LoveLine affiliate station. Adam opens the show having some fun with Drew accusing him of being out of it and pretending to listen, then Adam goes off on the film 'Million Dollar Baby' leading the son of author F.X. Toole to call in to discuss how his father's work was adapted into the film.

F.X. Toole

F.X. Toole is the pen name of boxing trainer Jerry Boyd (1930 – September 2, 2002). Toole is most noted for writing the 2000 collection of short stories Rope Burns: Stories from the Corner, which were adapted into the Oscar-winning movie Million Dollar Baby in 2004. F.X. Toole's posthumous novel Pound for Pound was released in 2006 to rave reviews. Cutman, a one-hour dramatic series set in the world of boxing, drawn from short stories by F.X. Toole, is in development by AMC Television.

Rope Burns: Stories from the Corner is dedicated to Dub Huntley, the man who introduced Boyd to boxing, and many of the characters and events related in the book are from Dub Huntley's life and experience. Huntley trained Boyd to box when Boyd was in his 40s and the two became friends during that time. Huntley was the trainer for world champions Laila Ali, Hector Lopez, and many others, including comedian/writer Chris Strait when he was an amateur boxer. Immediately before his death, Boyd was acting as a cutman and assistant trainer to Huntley with female professional boxer Juli Crockett, who Huntley told Sports Illustrated in an interview was the basis for the characterization of Maggie Fitzgerald in Million Dollar Baby. Boyd was born and raised in Long Beach, California, and died in Torrance, CA of a heart attack at age 71.

Old Notes from listeners:

Adam with Drew in Syracuse.

Adam is hilarious and so is Drew. Adam goes off on the movie "Million Dollar Baby" for several minutes, he completely crushes the movie.

The son of the man who wrote the book that the film was based on actually calls in to argue with Adam, it is great.

Audio quality is 10/10. Some commercials are in this episode.

Drew is in San Antonio, not Syracuse. The son of the Million Dollar Baby author does not call in to argue with Adam, he rather clarifies some issues Adam has with the movie. The caller is civil and Adam and Drew are intrigued by his story.

It is the night of the Academy Awards and Adam talks about how he had to sit and watch the awards with his wife and her friends. He says it was extremely distracting and he wanted to commit suicide by falling on a fireplace poker.

Not many calls are taken, but there are some good stories from Adam that make up for it.

Of the calls that are taken, they are in the more serious vein in that Adam and Drew try to dish out life lessons versus Drew giving clinical information.

The end of the show gets political which is always a favorite topic for me to hear Adam bitch about.

The show is pretty average, nothing really stands out, and I think a lot of it has to do with them being in different studios.

7/10

When I play this show, it’s only 36 minutes. I don’t know if it’s just wigging out on me because the comment below talks about hearing Adam’s whole diatribe about Million Dollar Baby, whereas in this clip, it cuts off right when Adam gets into all of that. Hm.

When I try to download the alternate version, it gives the “For bandwidth reasons, you may not play or download more than one show a minute.
Please wait …” promptl. No matter how long I wait.

Show is broken for me as well…right when Adam starts to talk about Million Dollar Baby. Is that alternative version available anywhere? I can’t find it on the new site.

That is not “Classic LoveLine” that is a scam artist who steals my work and has stolen the name Classic Loveline, the show I was officially put in charge of in 2013. This same person is why we didn’t get access to over 3500 more VHS, 2500 more cassette recordings and unknown amounts of official CDs. they steal money using work they didn’t do, for a show they didn’t host, produce, own the rights to nor waste their life restoring to the tune of over 300k in lost wages let alone possible alternative income, relationships, pets, any semblance of free time. They buy boats, pay their mortgage and rock fancy watches while I work away in the dark and people then link their site here, in the ultimate ironic punishment for me calling it Classic LoveLine the title of the show I created with PodcastOne in 2013 and earned, the only thing I ever earned that they couldn’t steal and they stole that too.

Please do not link that bogus youtube channel here that steals the artwork of Michael Narren as well, I know as I was his Carolla specific freelance art agent and we didn’t sign off on it’s use.

If you want a missing file just ask or if you want to link to a LoveLine youtube channel, this is the one that’s ok. https://www.youtube.com/c/TheLoveBetweenTheTwoHosts
