Adam opens the show talking about his hernia surgery and how he embarrassed both Drew and the Jamaican/West Indian anesthesiologist in the first five minutes he was there. The guy said he used to be neighbors with Drew and then joked that Drew got too good for the neighborhood and moved to big house down the hill. Adam then told the guy that he probably shouldn’t be mentioning this, but Drew moved because they were black and he didn’t like the direction the neighborhood was going. Apparently the guy took it completely seriously and huffed out of the room just as Drew was walking up and they had a small confrontation in the hallway until Drew could clear it up.

Adam’s preferences when it comes to his anesthesiologists are the same as his preferences in bartenders. He likes a heavy hand.

Adam: “I told him, worse for me to wake up in the middle of it than to die on the table, so go sick.”

The first call is a girl named Kelly who asks if homosexuals are born or created. Drew starts to explain that it’s both depending on the situation, at which point Kelly pulls my favorite Loveline caller move which is to cut him off and jump in to start talking about herself. She says she’s bisexual, and even though she’s married to a man, she has sexual feelings for women but could never picture herself being in a relationship with one.

Drew: “I’d bet same age sexual abuse by a girl, aged 6 to 8.”

Kelly: “I’ve never been sexually molested. Ever.”

Drew: “You didn’t goof around with someone the same age at around 6-8 years of age?”

Kelly: “Um yyyeah, it was my cousin.”

lol. Damn Drew. You’re the man.

Adam and Drew get to talking about the Prius and how you have to get on a waiting list to get one. Adam always leases a nice car for his pussy father but he gets him a nice Infinity and then catches him driving around in his wife’s minivan because it gets 4 miles to the gallon more than the Infinity. So Adam decides he wants to get him a Prius. A guy from “the #2 Toyota dealership” in California calls in and says the next time they get a Prius in, waiting list be damned, he’ll reserve it for Adam. The guy asks Adam his preference in color.

Adam: “I don’t care what color it is. S brown. Do you have one that looks like seagull S? It’s not my car.”

Caller: “If it’s brown, you’d actually take it in the brown?”

Adam: “Listen, I would take one with a swastika scratched into the hood and a Confederate flag on the roof.”

Great show from beginning to end.

And with that…..I am #1. Fear not, I will be a fair and benevolent leader.

  2. Definitely a Downer Calls kind of night (not necessarily good or bad, guess it just depends on your mood). Adam’s story of embarrassing Drew in the hospital is golden.

There’s a pretty disturbing rape call that has some fantastical details, but at the beginning she claims the cops told her, “Some girls just like it rough” which throws the story’s validity and her interpretation into question. I wish Adam & Drew revisited this detail from her but I guess Adam loaded on Vicodin got caught up in her yarn.

Solid show despite some repeated rants (hospital gowns, traffic arrows, prisons). Engineer Ken is filling in and even has 3-4 drops.
Landlubber has a good summary… but yeah, Drew predicting the first caller’s history was pretty good. Adam talks about leasing his dad a Jaguar and they get into a tangent about Priuses for a bit.
The girl who was raped and had 22 stitches was a compelling story, and she sounded pretty well put together. Hopefully she is doing well.
There is also a possibly bogus call about a guy who wants advice going into a drinking contest.
Adam didn’t sound abnormal to me… his usual easily-distracted/rambling self.
