This episode contains what is possibly THE ultimate Engineer Chris moment: Adam wants to know the distance from New York to Paris, so Chris tries to look it up on…Mapquest.
Ugh. The Chief Thunderbear era begins.
A 23-year-old girl calls in and says that she lives at home where she has been molested by her dad.
Adam: “Why is it that the average girl who hasn’t been molested moves out at 19 and the person who was molested stays until 28? Yvonne, can you move out of the house?”
Yvonne: “I tried but I can’t really afford to.”
Adam: “NO, you can’t afford NOT to. (Good to hear this phrase make an appearance after such a long hiatus). And by the way, do you really want to live in the house with the diddler on the roof?”
This cracks Drew up mid sentence.
A caller has fallen asleep on hold and they spend a little time listening to her labored breathing. Drew suggests they wake her up and tell her to get a sleep study because she needs a CPAP for what sounds to him like sleep apnea. Adam, on the other hand, suggests that perhaps a wildebeest ate her and fell asleep on the couch.
This whole episode is brilliant from beginning to end.

The caller around the 50 minute mark who’s father killed her mother and then OD’d was disturbing as hel!!!! WTF is wrong with this world.

Snoring call means it gets bonus points.
Anderson gives Drew some court tips he learned back back in his drug days, aka sweet threesomes and rave head in the speaker times. Super heavy call with the mom and dad was rough. Overall great episode.
“Engineer” Chris’ fucktardation is always a marvel to behold for me. If he were a Loveline caller (and he has most of the hallmarks), Adam would eviscerate him.
Adam and Drew task him with a search engine query – the distance from New York to Europe (initially I believe Adam asked for Paris specifically), which even by 2004 standards would be comically simple – and he just can’t deliver. He tries MAPQUEST. MAPQUEST, for the distance between the east coast of the US to (any place in western) Europe. Wikipedia was three and a half years by this show’s air date, never mind the fact that a perfunctory Google search would’ve immediately yielded many answers.
It reminds me of the time Adam asked Chris to look up some stats for a former pro NFL player – it may even have been something as simple as the guy’s weight while he was in the league – and Chris hopped on the ESPN website to try to find it.
His… specialness is by no means limited to his ineptitude with web searches, either…
I feel like this was a very similar show to the previous with maybe a few more drops.
