Colby is great. They discuss how he chose Tina to take to the finale of Survivor: Australia, who ended up beating him. He says she was the more deserving person to take to the finale against him, even though he knew he probably gave away $1mm. I wonder how he feels about that all these years later. If he took the other guy, he would’ve won but he did the ‘honorable’ thing and took someone he knew would surely beat him. I’m sure he regrets the hell outta that now. It has been voted by the fans as one of the dumbest moves in Survivor history.
As they’re talking to him early on in the show, Anderson drops in Drew saying “are you a Mormon?” and Colby gets fooled by it of course and answers no. Drew is not in studio, but broadcasting from somewhere else so it works. Not to mention that drop has like a 99% success rate.
There’s always discussion about who will take over for Jeff Probst once he decides to retire from hosting Survivor. Everyone seems to think it will be Boston Rob, but I think Colby would be a better fit. He almost has the same cadence to his speech as Probst, where as Boston Rob sounds like a guy with a serious head injury who just smoked a blunt.
As Unclepenny said, Jeff Probst calls in from their weekly poker game that Colby usually participates in but had to leave early to do Loveline. Shannon Elizabeth gets on the phone, still at the poker game, and asks the guys if they’d tasted Colby’s “water.” Apparently he has a Big Gulp cup full of liquor with him.
Drew is either exhausted or pissed tonight. He’s pretty quiet throughout the episode and doesn’t really play along with Adam’s ribbing of him like he normally does. At the beginning of the show Adam shuts him up a bunch of times even though Drew isn’t saying anything. “Shut up Drew, I know the sound you make when you’re about to speak.” He does this a few times. It’s almost as if Drew spends the rest of the episode pouting by not saying anything. It’s funny to hear the no guest shows and then the guest shows, and how Adam tends to show off to the guest by throwing some extra shit Drew’s way. I think Drew resents this.
Colby has to leave a little early so he can get back to the poker game. He says he regrets that he didn’t get to meet Drew, but had so much fun and will definitely be back. And he was never seen again.
I love how Colby assumes Adam is Jewish when they discuss the Holocaust. Adam then points out Drew being half-Jewish and how Drew doesn’t like to broadcast it, at least according to Adam.
Great show, and Colby sounds like salt of the earth…
A shockingly great sleeper episode. You can tell the guest is a real fan of the show.
Colby’s a great guest him and Adam play well off each other. Shannon Dougherty and Jeff probes make an appearance. Good episode
