Oh god I started laughing so hard at 1:14:35
14 year old girl has long distance relationship and her parents flew the boyfriend out because they trusted him and Adam does his impression of the girls dad. Hilarious stuff.
A few callers of hall-of-fame idiocy here; not quite on the level of the legendary doorjamb-height call, but close.
There’s a great Germany or Florida about 20 minutes in. “A German man… oh wait.”
Adam repeats the bit he used to do with Jimmy Eat World’s “Bleed American” (his song, when he entered the bar in slow motion) but instead with The Stroke’s song Reptilia. Anderson chimes in saying he invented the bit. Anderson is actually very talkative in this episode, and actually admits to having engineered the show drunk (but never high).
There’s an interesting moment when Adam brings up Dickie from the Bosstones. As he’s talking Anderson plays just the first two words of the “You’re a dick to a lot of callers” drop, and a couple of seconds later plays the famous Dickie “WAAAAAAAAH” scream. So apparently he has a drop labeled “Dick” and then one labeled “Dickie,” and he hit the wrong one. That’s the system behind the drop wizardry.
Damn, good catch Pasta. I always wondered how that works. I pictured a big ass board behind the glass where Anderson just has white tape with black sharpie marker indicating what drop it was. There would have to be like a million buttons. I still can’t really picture how it works. Even if you had a system where all the drops were on a computer and all you had to do was a keyword search, it would still be a big delay. Anderson is usually pretty spot-on with his timing.
Great show with a great early example of Bald Bryan point-shitting. 0:19:00 Adam and Drew are ranting and raving about stickers on fruit and Anderson breaks in saying that Bryan is dying to say that the stickers are to differentiate between types of apples. Made me laugh to hear that almost a decade ago Bryan was still shitting upon Adam’s points.
The guys open the show talking about how Drew has just gotten back from New York. Adam said apparently it was a super top secret mission that they couldn’t talk about, but nobody had to even warn him not to talk about it because he didn’t even ask Drew why he was going to New York. Anyway, Drew was up there to be on a special edition of Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
A girl calls in who has some problems with her relationship and needs advice. The guys need a little more information from her so they ask some questions. They ask what the problem is, and she answers the problem was that they were having problems. They ask why they got married when they were young, and she answers that they got young because they were young. They ask what she’s doing for birth control, and she answers that she’s taking birth control.
Adam: “We just hit the hat trick here Drew.”
Later, they’re about to go to break:
Drew: “Well let’s at least take a call. Or at least tease it.”
Adam: “Tease a call…..Sarah, you’re fat and you have nappy hair.”
Drew: “No no no.”
Drew reveals he was on “Super Millionare” and helped the guy win a milli. Decent show lots of dumb callers
I don’t know if Drew did more than one episode of Super Millionaire, but flying out to NY for 30 seconds of TV show seems dumb. Once you get past Adam’s rant about flash flood warnings that goes on way too long, it’s a decent show with some interesting callers.
