The show is less focused on calls, more on Adam’s endless questions about Survivor, but it makes for great conversation/rants. Jeff’s a lively guest, candid with his responses, and it’s easy to see why they brought him back in the future.
If you have a passive interest in Survivor it is worth listening to. Jeff is very comfortable.
They mostly talk about Survivor but take some calls as well. Jeff is good.
5/5
The guys are about to take a Germany or Florida and Adam tells Jeff if this whole Survivor thing doesn’t work out for him his next hosting duties can be for the live version of Germany or Florida. Then he goes on to explain the details of his other pet project, the reality show Paintball Karaoke, and its spinoff, Celebrity Paintball Karaoke. Extra points for not cracking a note while getting shot in the larynx. Then he mentions just a show where people pop other peoples’ zits.
Adam: “How could you turn away from something like that?”
Not the craziest idea apparently since there are whole sections of Youtube dedicated to zit popping, boil lancing, and other horrible shit. It always happens late at night after a couple drinks. You go on Youtube looking for the song “What’s on Your Mind” by Information Society after you hear it in the background of a car commercial, and before you know it you somehow take a wrong turn into that weird part of Youtube again and spend an hour watching people remove bot fly larvae out of each other.
The guys talk with Jeff about the medical crews they have to bring to all these exotic locations. Drew says there is some serious shit you can pick up out there (I don’t know if this is before or after he goes overseas and contracts some crazy illness that lands him in the hospital). Jeff says on one season there were these bugs that bite you and then burrow two inches under your skin and they have to excavate them. He says another time, the locals found out they were there and knew they had medical people there, so they paddled up one day in a small boat with a young boy from their…I don’t know…village, who had been shot in the face accidentally with a shotgun, so the Survivor doctors stabilized him and got him on a helicopter to a legit medical facility. So if they hadn’t been there shooting, the kid would’ve died. Good stuff.
A girl calls in who has some problems and Drew says that she is constantly trying to reenact her past traumas (sexual/physical abuse). The guys acknowledge that this is just an ingrained part of the human psyche, and they don’t know why. Everything about us as humans has evolved with us, and there’s an argument to be made that everything about us must have some sort of survival value, otherwise it would’ve been worked out of the system along the way. What the hell is the survival value in recreating trauma and being a perpetual victim? I mean….you know? *hits bong and contemplates colors with my cat*
Adam says if he was on Survivor he would keister a bunch of essentials and sneak them on the show. He would sneak some flint and fruit roll ups in his asshole.
Adam: “Alright listen up people, I have some good news and bad news. I have 11 mini Snickers bars. Okay bup bup bup, don’t, okay stop celebrating. Now the bad news.”
A caller at the end of the show says he’s an actor and that his 17-hour shooting days don’t help his relationship with his girlfriend.
Adam: “That’s a long day for gay porn.”
The kid says it’s not gay porn and that he’s a character that appears on the O.C. regularly. This is interesting considering most idiot callers don’t from Frog Balls Minnesota don’t want to reveal what kind of work they do — not even where they work, but just the nature of their work — in fear that they’ll be recognized by their friends, co-workers, and priest. This guy is a recurring character on a very popular show and he just gives that information freely. Adam deduces that his “problem” is not an actual problem and he just wanted to get on the radio and brag that he’s on the O.C..
Adam and Drew are embarrassments now.
“Adam and Drew are embarrassments now.”
Yet Probst still rocks those chokers.
Jeff’s a good guest, good episode. But man nothing but survivor talk for most of the episode. Good mix up I guess but nothing special.
ehhhhhhhhhhhgh…….!
Jeff is always a good guest.
Drew can be so obtuse at times. A girl says her father raped her at age 13 and he says, what do you mean? Don’t you mean sexual abuse? She says no, he raped me. Drew says we call that sexual abuse. Ummm… okay?
Despite talking about Survivor a little too much, Adam is on his game and offers some good advise to some callers. I think he is on his best behavior in front of Jeff.
