First mentioned on October 19, 2003 and first played on October 26, 2003, Germany or Florida is a game that originated at Jimmy Kimmel Live with the staff of writers who discovered a correlation in the news stories they would read for joke material. Adam observed that "All weird stories emanate from either Germany or Florida." Originally intended as a game to be used on Kimmel's show, it was rejected and Adam decided to bring it to Loveline. The object of the game is to have a listener read off a strange, macabre, or just plain weird news story and have the hosts (and guests) choose Germany or Florida. According to some listeners' best guesses, Adam is about 55% correct, and Dr. Drew is about 40%. Theme songs introducing the game have been created by guests and callers, most notably David Alan Grier's opera and beat-box renditions.

As noted below, this is the first actual playing of Germany or Florida, although the general theory had been mentioned before. Adam explains the concept to one of the band members, who’s from Florida, and shortly afterward a girl calls in, unsolicited, with the famous German cannibal story. So she (I forget her name) deserves some credit for turning it into an actual game where callers present the stories.
Agree with @pastahero that the girl (we both can’t remember her name so maybe this isn’t the greatest point) that called in with the first Germany v Florida should get some credit. The GvF call about a human cannonball midget landing in a hippo’s mouth was so absurd. Q: “Where did you find this story?” “It’s legit – ……..on the internet” hahahahahaaaaaaaaa The band is from FLA but loves the game anyway.
The first official Germany or Florida game in this episode. A quick google search debunked the hippo eating a “midget” story as FALSE. Adam and Drew intuitions correct again.

During the third G or F about police shooting at a guy eating a pear (they thought it was a grenade) Drew has an amazing statement (that gets stepped on by someone else talking) that police would never fire at someone like that, “think of the liability.” LOOOOOOL. Oh, Drew.
