Show Summary:
CLL #1842 (feat. Clive Barker)
10/21/2002 – Monday Night Show
Source – Lost Tape (2021) with KNRK CD Recording (2021) Patches
This episode is 100% complete with a major audio upgrade, Clive is making his fifth and final appearance on CLL. He was previously on CLL #233, CLL #425, CLL #1509 and CLL #1583. Many fans found Clive's breathing to be annoying on the previous low quality fan recordings, now with a board captured source it should sound much better despite Clive's medical condition persisting throughout. Adam teaches Clive about Tivo and Clive delivers what became perhaps my favorite drop in LoveLine history. Sleeper Classic Episode!
Clive is promoting an exhibition of his oil paintings from his book "Abarat" at the pacific design center.
Adam introduces Clive to the magic of Tivo.
Clive drops a few S' bombs throughout the show.
A great Virtual Adam segment
Adam comments that Drew owes him so much for all the raises and business deals he spearheaded and that Drew should buy him dinner every time they go out to eat.
Adam then comments that he has sealed his fate and they will be eating lunchables in a college parking lot.
Clive "I like Lunchables!"
(one of the greatest drops ever)
Clive Barker sounds awful here. He’s breathing so heavily in the microphone through the whole show that I thought his soul was trying to escape. Not as peppy as usual, Also, he’s highly overrated as a writer/director/artist(?aahhaahahaah) already but keeps his nose high in the air at all times – no humility.
It sounded like Clive was dying.
Anderson plays one of the most bizarrely hilarious drops at around 1:09:00, and the guys played into it perfectly. Almost squirted ice tea out of my nose in the car.
Clive is a good guest, his heavy breathing through the mic was outta hand. I’m surprised Adam didn’t get on him
darth vader in studio, othewise good show
Solid episode, give it a listen when Gio uploads the remastered version. They have some interesting discussions (Clive pushes back on Adam and Drew’s “just lie there” suggestion) and Anderson does his magic.
Remastered Version added! New Board Captured source, Clive’s breathing no longer has the compression effect that troubled some listeners, now it just sounds like someone getting additional air, totally changes the show.
Clive’s a little less less involved in this show than past ones, little less fun banter with Drew and Adam. Solid show nevertheless.
Such an interesting guest. Clive seems like the kind of artist who creates exactly what he wants to create and isn’t so concerned with what will be popular
