I listened to this again and I have to say, on this occasion Dr. Bruce was asking for it.

First the issue of blood alcohol comes up. Dr. Bruce uses some black & white doctor-speak (“1 cigarette is the same as 2 packs a day”) when asked about how food affects intoxication. Bruce holds out like a captured spy before admitting the obvious: you’re better off drinking after a big meal than on an empty stomach.

Later on a caller asks about tightening of the foreskin.

    Adam: “That’s called stenosis, right?”
    Bruce: “No.”
Adam: “Drew always calls it stenosis.”
Bruce: “well, that’s one of the terms you could use.”
Adam: “So what would you call it?”
    Bruce: “There are many terms.”
    Adam: “OK, tell me one.”

That goes on for a few minutes. Then:

Adam: “What would you call this?”
    Bruce: “Stenosis.”

I found this show an uncomfortable listen. I normally like the teasing that Bruce receives when he appears on Loveline but Adam is really mean to him this night. It seems to be egged on by the band members, who keep shouting, “Bruce.” I think Bruce had a hard time dealing with this and had trouble putting thoughts together and explaining them.

Yeah Bruce really gets it, but like many have pointed out over the years, he kinda asks for it in a way.
He reminds me of that seemingly innocent kid that always got picked on bad in middle school, then when you try to take pity and start a conversation with him he says something completely douchey and insulting, then it all starts to make sense despite his nerdy appearance.

adam is a bully, very often on loveline. makes me wonder if he bullied kids in high school.

how bout the girl that has a 15 year old bf who wants her to barf for him to turn him on?!!?

Bruce was being a perpendicular retard this show, he deserved every bit of bullying he got by Adam, definitely a tense show, the band kinda dog-piled on Bruce too haha, they were the mean ones, but also very funny

Dr. Bruce really deserves everything Adam gives him on this one. He’s completely passive aggressive, does horrible radio, contradicts Adam for no reason, and then refuses to accept any responsibility for his screw ups and ineptitude. Bruce sucks ass.

I like Bruce but he kind of got what he deserved this night. Adam and Bruce hang out off the air too, and how Adam treats Bruce is how i would talk with a friend who is being a ‘jagoff’. Bruce just doesn’t come back with anything so it feels abusive. He’s a big boy.

In Bruce’s defense, when Adam asked about alcohol on full vs empty stomach, Bruce said it would be absorbed more slowly with full, but Adam ignores it and keeps pressing. Later, Adam poses an oddball question about if your gag reflex can detect something even if it’s not touching anything.. just a bizarre line of questioning.

3.5/5 – Adam bags on Dr.Bruce all show.. this is the most pissy I’ve heard Adam in awhile. At first Bruce was serious but after awhile it seemed Bruce was just f’n with Adam. The guests were obnoxious but were engaged throughout the show. I Didnt think it was cool that they also jumped in and started belittling Dr.Bruce. Adam and Bruce have know eachother for years and hangout outside of the show, so they have an established relationship. The guests picking on Bruce was annoying and they were just being disrespectful assholes. Props to Bruce for keeping his cool. Worth a listen but not the greatest show.

Adam going in on Bruce on the Stenosis reminded me of when Adam absolutely DESTROYED Gavin Newsome about predatory lending.

Same tone and line of questioning.

I felt bad for Bruce, but he deserved every bit of it.

The Band was a little over the top and definitely drunk but that doesn’t bother me. I always appreciate when the guests attempt to contribute to the show. I’d rather have that than them just be bumps on a log.
