DAG opens the show up with the DREW Cheer
At 22:30 Drew does into detail about the physiological imprint that creates the characteristic “little girl voice” the guys pick up on in the callers that have been abused as children.
I’m pretty sure the first caller lets the F word drop. I love when Drew speaks ghettoly. “How long until you… bust?”
This has two outstanding calls. A girl who claims that she has no trauma but was cutting, ran away from home, is having sex with a bunch of guys… and has a kid.
The other call is a heroin addict that is trying to do it on her own, but argues with Drew the whole call.
Cant stand DAG but i liked the calls though.
Who the f chews gum while they have a mic right in front of them. DAGs normally cool, but this episode is a bit tough to listen to with the constant chewing on gum, or his own gums or whatever he’s doing to make the noise. Stopped 1/3 the way in, on to the next though 🙂
I like DAG in small doses only but he has certain warmth to him that is irresistible.
It’s fun watching Drew change up his rhythms around Dag until he sounds like the world’s whitest black man.
HUGE f-bomb dropped by first caller. Must have been missed because everyone was stunned by the caller’s speech and description of his problem.
Even the not so great DAG appearances are good times.
Drew is a bit obnoxious as he tries to steer the show… not really listening to the callers, leading them toward the answers he wants to hear. After a high-energy start, DAG settles in and genuinely tries to help, telling Drew to stop interrupting the callers… with little success.
Classic DAG – gotta love it. Drew tries to drag it down by spending half the show insisting that whatever narrative he’s assigned to a caller is correct. In one call he goes, “Watch this – are you an alcoholic?” and even though the woman is clearly not an alcoholic, doesn’t have any family members that are alcoholics, doesn’t drink, smoke weed, do drugs or even come from a part of the world that is predisposed to alcoholism Drew CANNOT admit he was wrong. It’s embarrassing. This is why the show died when Adam left. Adam would have shut that down and told Drew he was a moron. Without Adam to reign him in Drew is just an insufferable know it all who can’t stand being wrong.
Love DAG episodes. His super high energy actually cracks me up in contrast to the callers. He also sneaks in smart comedy into the chaos.
Somehow the callers are always a little less retarded when there’s a guest host filling in for Adam. Most of the early callers are pretty lucid then the heshers start sprinkling in.
There’s some excitement over Robert Horry’s famous game 6 last second shot in the 2002 western conference finals against the Sacramento Kings .
Also play the “Cass Jeff” cheer, Adam’s Cheer, and Fruit in the Middle. I love all of those drops.
The motorcycle caller that drew can’t let go sounded off to me to. Like either the call was bogus or she wasn’t being honest. Drew isn’t as good at breaking the spirit of the callers to get to the truth like Adam is.
