Adam starts off the show talking about the weird energy he felt on the road while driving in. Drew agrees, saying that it is because of the full moon that night. The full moon weirdness seems to spread to callers, as one after the next either swears or has noise in the background. Finally after the 9th call of this, Adam goes on a rant and yells at the phone screeners. The very next call sounds like there is a party going on in the background and Mo cracks up.
Fascinating. At 1:17, a philosophy professor calls out Drew for recommending Paxil over other drugs. Drew seems to be made uneasy for a moment by the question. What’s fascinating is Drew is now under investigation for taking money from the maker of Paxil, and promoting their drug wellbutrin in circumstances where it was not clear he was acting as a paid advocage. The Feds need to listen to this!

@aceovereasy
wow!
paid, I’m the stupid one cuz I work, shoulda went to college and learned how to rape the system…
@aceovereasy, I’m a doctor who’s listened to pretty much every Loveline from 1999-2002 over the last year (I listened once a week or so in high school/undergrad) and Dr. Drew, in my opinion, never has said anything untrue about any psych meds. He definitely did point out the sex drive point w/ Wellbutrin, but I personally felt that w/ the patient population that listened to Loveline that it was great he pointed out the options that tended to avoid some of the AE’s that limit the amount of people willing to take the drug. I also remember him going into Wellbutrin’s sleep disturbance problems a few times and the fact that it should be avoided in seizure patients as well. As for Paxil, maybe I’m missing something but to me it seemed that Drew wasn’t a huge fan of any SSRI, and often pointed out weight gain with Paxil over the other SSRI’s. Just my 2 cents. Also, my other 5 cents, I always found it funny how brilliant he is when it comes to rare diseases and conditions but then seems to be confused or inaccurate sometimes when it comes to the simplest diagnoses. It’s like he’s too smart for his own good.
Weird energy night with the callers.
Actually really good episode. Mo is real likable with a fair bit of dumbass callers.
An absolutely magical run of callers with distracting noises in the background really picks up at 29:53 and climaxes a little after 33:00 — just perfection.
I don’t know why but this episode was a good one…. Mo didn’t chime in that much but the show had a good flow and the guys seemed to be in a good mood. I didn’t get the impression that Drew was uneasy about the Paxil call.
Full moon night. Every caller has background noise or uses cuss words.
Mo Collins does Keegels on air
Drew clarifies that Adam’s Hyper Vigilance isn’t an actual disorder, it’s a description of Adam’s behavior. Years later on the Adam and Drew podcast Adam BLOWS UP on Drew for letting Adam think that Hyper Vigilance is an actual medical term/diagnosis all these years.
Shawn Green went 6/6 with 4 homers the same night.
Shout out to (relatively) new call screener Brian, who I am pretty sure is Bald Brian of thy Adam Carolla Podcast
