Christopher Hall (singer) spent most of the showing saying what I was thinking. It was pretty cool.
Good guests. They respond well to both Adam & Drew and the callers.
Really smart band, a refreshing listen, underrated show.
Great, under-the-radar episode
Stabbing westward is really cool. Fun fact or random tid bit from my brain, A lot of people Know them as the dudes who first used the Famous riff from “hey man nice shot” by filter on their song “ungod”. It turns out that zechman Wrote the Riff for SW but left for filter and decided he would use it with his new band too. The filter version is way more famous though.
One of their other bandmates, Walter Flakus, who isn’t there also found a career in radio on the new Q101 in Chicago which he’s still on, and he’s also really nice. This episode caused me to go on like a 30 min search of an old SW song, in which I vaguely new some lyrics as a starting point. It was called “it can’t happen here” if you care, but what it made me think about was how weird it is that their music can be so dark, and you’d think they’d be aggressive,
yet they’re all pretty normal lucid dudes.
Lateralus, I’m a huge Stabbing Westward fan, and if you are looking for any rarities, I probably have them. Christopher Hall has a new band, called The Dreaming. Also, little known fact, the drummer used to be in a band called the Exotic Birds with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.
Also, since it’s Loveline, Christopher was molested as a child, but never gets into it.
Dr. Spaz seems to be hanging around in the studio for this show., but with no mic. Around 1:06 Drew asks him about Nexium.
“When in doubt, go the BJ route” – Ace
Caller: There’s a difference between The Cult and Blue Oyster Cult?
Adam: Anyone who doesn’t know the difference between The Cult and Blue Oyster Cult should not be a father.
Caller: Hey! At least I know where Led Zeppelin’s from!
Felt like a lighthearted show with an incredibly charming band. Must listen
Adam discusses how he feels better about himself when he watches a nature show about lions and the show states that they sleep 13 hours a day. One of the Stabbing Westeard guys says that he sleeps ten hours during the day, plays a show, then goes back to bed. He says he is awake about 3 hours a day on tour which Adam really liked. Adam then says he is planning to try and sleep more than 24 hours in one day.
