This is a really good show. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s just a good mix of dumb and odd callers. Maybe Adam and Drew were just really “in sync” this episode. Whatever it was, it was a good show.
Adam mispronounces the name of the Museum of Television and Radio right off the bat. He’s happy that people have shown up, but says they’ll be gone in 15 minutes and describes the scene. The crowd is occasionally audible in the background, especially in response to Adam.
Darren (15) starts (and finishes) his call by unintelligibly yelling. Adam doesn’t care if every call is a prank call.
Mary (15) echoes a lot and wants to know if bleeding from sex is common, even if it’s not her first time. Drew’s concerned that the crowd is egging Adam on, and Adam describes the studio crew as totally apathetic.
Carey (34) is worried her new boyfriend is a sex addict. She can’t give a single straight answer for Adam and Drew’s question about what her boyfriend has been doing online, and Adam starts to get angry. The evidence supporting him being a sex addict is tenuous.
Nick (19) made up his question so he could tell Drew that he deserves a Nobel prize and Adam deserves an Emmy. He wants to stop by the studio next week. Adam says he can only if he’s hot, but Ann isn’t into it.
Jessica (14) can’t talk because her mom is there, and when her mom leaves, she has to whisper and they make fun of her. She saw Drew at his son’s t-ball game, but didn’t want to be rude and approach him. Her problem is that she gets nervous around guys and ends up throwing herself at them.
Drew talks briefly about the Joint Commission Hospital Accreditation he was doing earlier that day.
Joanne (32) had an asshole dad and has trouble not getting with people like that, so she wants to know about the viability of single-parent families since she wants children. Drew suggests she look at working through her issues instead of around them.
Drew wants to pee, so he makes Anderson take them to break. When they come back, they give out the address of the Museum and encourage people to stop by. Drew’s computer craps out.
Jennifer (29) is afraid to recieve oral sex and doesn’t enjoy sex in general. She wants to know if being sexually abused as a child could cause it, despite never being sexually abused. Adam tells her to drink some wine and hold still while her man goes to work.
Matt (21) is having erectile difficulties when he’s with women. Adam decides to discuss his favorite boners, including one that came after a nap the day before that was so hard it looped back and became an eye hook. Matt turns out to be on medication, as well as being anxious.
Patty (32) wants to know if her latex allergy applies to condoms, and if her massive weight loss has anything to do with changes in her menstrual cycle. Turns out Patty has 3 kids, the last of which she didn’t know she was pregnant with until 8 months into the pregnancy.
Coming back from the break, Adam talks about how nice the Museum is since he’s never been there before, and wonders who paid for it since it looks so nice and expensive. He suspects it was him with his taxes. Drew assures him it was not.
John (23) has semen that’s started smelling like bleach lately. Adam claims his smells like fresh-cut pine and people want him to jack off in their cars. John says he has an idea, and Drew’s bogosity meter goes off. Turns out he throws pottery, and Adam quizzes him to make sure.
Dan (21) wants to know if hanging out with people who smoke pot will make it show up positive if he takes a urine test.
After the break, Drew says he’s getting his second wind, having been worn out last night taking his kids trick-or-treating. Adams asks if Drew’s neighborhood allows black people in it yet.
Ramon (17) was getting a BJ from his girlfriend when her father caught them and kicked Ramon’s ass. Ramon wants to report the dad, but isn’t sure if he can get in trouble for having sex with his girlfriend. Adam says he would have raped Ramon for it. The call turns out to be a prank, and Adam claims he knew the whole time.
Carey (24) is concerned that because her husband takes a lot of amphetamines while working out, his sex drive will be affected and if his penis will shrink. Drew explains that the husband is an addict and that needs to be treated. Turns out he’s also a cop.
Aaron (17) immediately puts himself on Adam’s shitlist by being a jerkoff. He can’t have an orgasm while wearing a condom.
Marie (unknown age) can’t decide whether or not she has a question, and Adam interrupts to announce that Drew has a new record, having gone an hour and 12 minutes without hitting the mic. Marie drones on about not being able to have an orgasm, and Adam gets distracted by Drew’s stomach growling. Also Marie’s abnormal pap smear might mean warts.
Eric (26) has a problem with premature ejaculation (five minutes or less). This is apparently a recent development. Adam accuses Eric’s penis of getting lazy and suggests starting with some oral on the girlfriend.
After a remark from Drew about being in command of one’s own penis, Adam asks Drew what his military rank would be as compared to that of his penis.
Dave (20) always gets a burning rash on the head of his penis the day after he has sex with his girlfriend. Drew tells him to get checked for herpes.
Toni (28) is the first caller after the break. Her husband’s father is apparently having a sexual identity crisis. They work with him and found gay porn sites that he visited on the work computers.
Randy (26) tells Adam that he’s an honorary member of the Cincinatti Jackers, and wants to know what the long term effects of using sleep aids might be.
Melissa (22) wants to know how she could have gotten an abnormal pap result without ever having had sex. Adam makes a joke about the gynecologist having to brush aside the cobwebs.
Adam wants to go to break, but Drew says it’s too early.
Randy (18) took a Viagra pill his friend stole from his dad and now can’t get rid of the erection. Adam says it’s bogus, then tears the kid’s story apart and hangs up just before he can get the mason jar out.
Adam rants briefly about how anytime they get a caller that sounds like Cheech or Chong they need to just start hanging up, then they go to break.
Madison (19) wants to know the consequences of genital piercing. Drew says they’re more concerned about the causes and ask about her parents. She denies anything ever happened, and Adam gets mad and rants about people trying to make statements in the dumbest ways possible.
Laura (18) is not nearly as quick as Drew wanted and isn’t enough to get Adam to stop ranting. She’s been raped 3 times by 3 different guys and now that she’s married her husband wants her to forget about it because one of his friends raped her. Adam offers her $100 for every year she doesn’t get knocked up. Drew says to get back into therapy.
After the break, Adam thanks everyone who came out and is surprised that so many stayed. Drew comments on a guy (a boxing instructor) that’s trying to waft his fart into the studio.
Adam has a live audience to play to so he really shines in this episode. It is quite good.
Dumb girl Carey calls in and she’s got a cop boyfriend who takes a bunch of amphetamines, mixes up a bunch of RX meds, does GHB, and possibly steroids. The only thing Carey seems concerned with is whether this will affect his sex drive.
Drew is incredulous that she doesn’t acknowledge that this guy has a serious addiction problem and, without treatment, will almost certainly end up dead. She’s just like “yeah, but will it affect his sexually, will his penis shrink?” Drew keeps trying to impress upon her the seriousness of the problem and she very casually brushes it off and keeps saying “well to my knowledge he’s not doing anything illegal.”
Would love to have a Loveline update on this guy.
The live audience thing was cool, Adam was kind of in ‘comic mode.’
It’s easy to miss, but there’s an interesting inside comment Drew makes near the beginning of the show. Adam’s talking about how he usually doesn’t have a crowd to bounce his comedy off of, and he says Anne is still waiting for the Poorman to come back, and Drew corrects him and says she’s waiting for Ricky. I’d read somewhere that when they were pitching the TV show to MTV, Anne was trying to get Ricky to be the guy and Drew supported Adam. Maybe that’s already well known, but Drew’s little comment let on more than the audience usually gets to hear about the politics of the show. I’m not sure how anyone could mistake Ricky as having more talent than Adam, but there it is.
Wow wee I’ve never heard an episode of loveline take place in front of an live audience before. Regardless it’s full of screwy chick and fake male callers with with some good information in between.
