The guests are here to plug the movie “Varsity Blues;” Ron and Eliel aren’t particularly knowledgeable about the subjects discussed on loveline, but they ask questions, laugh often, and are seemingly happy just to be on the air.
Adam plays well off of the two guests and goes on several jags where he talks about/compares himself to “the black man” (the best being when he talks about why the brothers have big units). The show gets out of hand a few times, and at one point Adam has Mike turn off all the microphones in the studio.
Idk why but sports always puts the time the show was recorded into perspective for me. I heard the dirty birds and immediately thought, this is the week Leading up to John Elway’s last game. Super Bowl 33 i think? Idk it seems so much longer ago thinking like that.
Yeah Lateralus, I agree. Even more than sports, I just think it’s when they bring anything specific up about the time. Usually the show is just them taking calls and Adam ranting about things in the abstract, but you really get taken back to that time when they bring up something specific like a Super Bowl or memorable news story.
The other day I was listening to an episode and a girl was distracted because she was playing a game on her cell phone. Drew was like “on YOUR PHONE?!” Anderson had to tell him that cell phones were starting to have games on them. There’s a really old episode where Drew makes the comment “I’m still not so sure about this whole ‘internet’ thing.” lol.
Those kinds of comments really take me back, as well as any references to sports like you said.
These guys act like the Wild n’ Crazy Guys from SNL-skit the entire show…they just can’t stop cracking themselves up, giving out retarded advice, and laughing way too hard at luke-warm jokes (Adam even says twice, “you guys are too easy”). Unbeknownst to Ron, his “dirty birds” were about to get Elway-ed in the Super Bowl:). Not the worst guests, but kind of annoying.
The guests were all right. I liked the fact that they actually laughed at Adam’s jokes. Their comments were fine in my opinion.
They sure loved Adam, like there were on laughing gas or something.
Jesus it’s frustrating to hear Drew (a goddamn doctor!!) get so flummoxed about basic evolutionary theory time and time again….
One-hundred percent agree. He seems to have much more training than education.
