The episode starts with two solid rants (one on West Wood One and the other on weird spellings of names) and a story about how Adam introduced Drew’s triplets as “Hanson” and got them boo’d by a crowd of thousands.
Throughout the first twenty minutes of the show Adam refers back to a Rolling Stone article which compares competing “love” call in shows (wherein Adam is called a “DJ sidekick”).
Other than that the episode is on the generic side of things. Unfortunately the recording cuts out mid-sentence at the end, but other than that there isn’t much to complain about. On the whole it isn’t necessarily a bad show, but it isn’t exactly a memorable one either.
Around 48:00 Adam hilariously razzes Dr. Drew for not being able to admit he has a crush on Fiona Apple
1:02:12: Origin of the drop “I’m in my 20’s and 30’s, I live in an urban center and I’m having sex.”
These early-ish Adam/Drew days are different. They really let the callers drone on and on and repeat themselves. Every now and again Drew will cut someone off and say “what’s your question” but it seems like their tolerance threshold for long-windedness is much higher at this point than it is in the future.
Caller named Loreal keeps giggling during inapprorpiate moments and it is very creepy and sad.
Male caller: “I still have my Visa card. Get it? Veeeeesa (virgin)”
Adam: “Yeah, Drew still has his American Ass-press card”
?
1:09:40: Origin of the Adam drop “You really got to get out there and start checking out penis. You really don’t know what you’re missing.”
