Show Summary:

Loveline #195 06/27/1996 Tuesday Night Show Guest: Tori Amos Songs Played: "The Doughnut Song" and "Hey Jupiter: the Dakota version" "Love Song" live in studio Adam opens the show with Dr. John returning for his 2nd appearance of the Adam Carolla era, This partial opens right as Tori enters the studio, you can tell it's going to be an "interesting" show right away. Tori goes in depth on her life and seems to really like Adam, Tori's 1st known episode on Classic Loveline is from before the Adam Carolla era, Sept 8th 1992. Tori tells a caller how to "make peace" and it's very powerful, she's unlike any other guest on loveline. Adam coerces Neshell to sing with Tori live on air. Tori expertly fades back and lets the caller shine, it's a very cool move on her part.

For some reason with this file (and many others from 1996/1997 or so), I have to right-click on the file, go to Properties and hit “Unblock” before opening it. Otherwise I can’t change the attributes (title, artist, year, etc) in iTunes.

Yes, Tori and Adam have surprisingly lovely chemistry. Adam sort of just melts in Tori’s presence. He really likes her. Thanks for keeping the songs intact. Did anyone else notice the bumper announcing “Lovelines”? That was great.

Young Tori is much more feisty/lively; she hasn’t yet begun her gold-dust-woman phase.

It’s funny hearing Adam mention his roommate/living in an apartment. He was not yet a millionaire (LITERALLY).

34:30 Tori’s generosity toward the girl who wanted to be a singer is so heartwarming. Tori is encouraging, but not demanding, and even sings in the key that the girl started in! Tori didn’t sing over her, but instead sang softly and eventually dropped off so the girl could be heard.

Isn’t this the show where Adam acquires flowers that were given to Tori, and she then leaves them behind? Adam then gives them to his girlfriend (Lynette? ) who is a big Tori fan, and Adam thinks she’ll really love that connection, plus the flowers cost him nothing. Initially, his girlfriend was really excited for flowers, until she learned they were meant for someone else and Adam didn’t buy them, thus highlighting a huge dichotomy between men and women. Men think getting stuff is cool, and moreso if there is a connection to something else they like. Women want men to put in the effort, an amazing gift requires calories to burned in acquiring the gift, and if money is spent, all the better.
