Host: Adam, Dr. Drew

Show Summary:
Source – Lost Tape (2020)
This episode is now 99.9% complete, just missing a few seconds after the station ID break due to the tape flip and now with a huge audio upgrade as well. The Rentals are making their only appearance on CLL during the Adam Carolla era. Adam shows everyone his nipple bumps to remove the stigma and overall it's an interesting episode in the evolution of the show and the host dynamic, the beginning of the first week without Riki.
Original Notes - Great early Adam and Drew show. Taped off the satellite feed and includes the cool countdown from Engineer Mike. Also has the full 1996 goofy accordion polka intro music.
Recording Info:
Size: 182.20 MB
Length: 1:36:31
Bitrate: 256kb/s CBR
Is this Adam’s first ‘solo’ (Without Riki)? He seems a bit nervous, in the beginning of the show he’s sort of half screaming at times and speaking somewhat fast. Anywho, very entertaining; Adam pulls his shirt up at one point to show ‘the bumps on his nipples’ because a caller asking if they are normal.

Re: goofy accordion polka music: Bit off-topic, but I am surprised Adam didn’t place that opening music — In a previous episode (1996/01/25) he was saying he tought it sounded like something from Fats Domino.. Well.. they were using music that was composed by Hoyt Curtin for Yogi Bear TV cartoons in about 1958 or 9. Hanna/Barbera reused the music in other cartoons like “The Flintstones” “Top Cat” & “The Jetsons”. The trumpeter was Pete Candoli. So Fats Domino is “in the ballpark” era -wise– I hear elements of polka, bluebeat/ska & Louie Prima/tarantella beats in that little bit of goofy music… I love hearing the early shows with all the original intros & outros.. a lot of fun stuff.. Used to listen almost nightly after work…
Caller: “I’m taking a sex ed course over at Danza.”
Adam: “That’s the Tony Danza Junior College in Conejo.”
Adam talks so fast it’s making *me* nervous just listening to this….I’m pretty sure this is Adam’s first show as the co-host with Drew and without Rikki Rachtman.

New version just posted
Hey Giooooo, My Main Man, could this possibly be from 1/28/1998 instead?
This was dated 01/28/1996 on the VHS, has been assigned that date since 2013. This is an official tape from the studio board connected to a VCR. Recorded by Engineer Mike. It cannot be 01/28/1998 as that show has Shaun Palmer and is firmly dated. It’s possible it’s from 1998 but that would require the date to be mislabeled in at least 2 spots, the year and month or day. Also the bumpers are all from early 1996, the intro, the outro, the songs for breaks, what makes you think this is from 1998? did the album not come out until then?
Listen to it, its the Shaun Palmer interview, no Rentals, whether you stream or dl it… Hopefully just a labeling issue when it was uploaded. Loving these newly recovered shows!
ah, this was an error from the original files Anderson provided that he transferred, I think we encountered this same problem with a misdated intro as well, it just so happens that I have an as yet unshared copy of this show from the Cassette, I will edit and replace it then swap this recording over to the correct date in 1998, good catch! Thank you!
Ok so What happened was Engineer Mike or Anderson didn’t hit record on the B side and the tape was reused, either the full tape was partially taped over by Anderson or a partial recording was used for another partial, both are possible. So the show had been 50% complete and now it’s 99.9% complete not a full 100% due to the tape flip and lack of additional sources, but 49.9% of a new lost episode is pretty good!
Hell’s Yeah, Good on Ya!!! The Audio Quality is Amazing!
Cherielynn Westrich is now a member of the Iowa House of Representatives and will be running for Senate. A rangy guest, as Adam might say.
