Wow. It’s so weird how the show has changed over the decades. Dr Drew doesn’t say much, but his advice is still good. Poorman is a pretty good interviewer and keeps the guests engaged.
I find that the early (Poorman) shows tend to be more about the musicians than love calls. Callers don’t seem to have been screened, which may be why so many calls seem to be bogus. It’s very clunky too, as you can hear carts being plugged in, papers shuffling, chairs squeaking, etc. Sound drops are all over the place, and the whole production is disorganized. Needless to say, these early shows are best listened too in small doses. It is no mystery why the show got way more popular when Adam came along later.
My favorite show of 92 (not really that a high a bar to clear). Poorman’s on top of his game. I love that he puts the cleaning lady on the air. He and Drew seem relaxed and have some good banter, compared to the tension and frustration you can sometimes feel between them, and I like the guests too.
Drew talks about how he has taken on too much responsibility and will cut back “one of these days.” Does anyone know if he ever did “cut back?” I guess he’s no longer head of a department at the hospital, but as far as I can tell he’s still going balls to the wall as far as his work schedule.
This show had always been Dr. Drew’s show. Everybody else was just visiting…
They mentioned that the band Daisy chainsaw was on the previous night. Just for our God purposes, I figured I would let everyone know.
Archive, oops. My phone did not dictate that correctly.
