Listen to theShow
Show Summary:
Show starts with a call from a girl named Alexis, 16 that walked into her brother's room at night that is in bed with her twin sister. They don't know she saw them. Apparently it's been going on for a while. Drew suggests to get the two of them some kind of professional help, whether it means getting the parents involved or not. Poorman even agrees with this all. Doug gets Drew to give out a phone number before revealing that they are big fans of the show. Alexis's niece is crying in the background so they let her go.
Dave makes the analogy "Dr. Drew is to medicine what Picasso is to art."
Loveline is the #1 radio program in Southern California in the time slot after moving and hour earlier.
5:51 Trish, 18 calls in to say that she misses the Poorman. She's having a Loveline pizza party with her friends. She asks Drew about some 'red things' on her boyfriend and knows he was with another girl that is known to have herpes. Drew says it's difficult to tell but describes herpes as clustered, fluid filled verticals. He tells her to be on the lookout for an outbreak in the next week or two. Drew recommends the medication Zovirax to treat the herpes.
A surprise call is taken from Pauly Shore. He was partying with Poorman on New Years eve but apparently something bad went down between him, Poorman and a woman that wasn't discussed in detail... It's hard to tell what happened exactly but they seem to be cool with each other at this point.
12:36 James, 17 calls in and asks about Dr. Zod that can be heard on the 1991 show with Jellyfish. They don't answer the question and quickly change topics, not sure what the deal was. Pauly is still on the phone and chiming in the entire call. James's says Poorman may have met two of his friends at one point, and has found out that they (a guy and a girl) have been having sex. He makes a reference to the guy "soaking the net" and the two of them getting into S&M. It's then revealed that they now want James to join the two of them. He has no interest though. After some kidding around Drew gets on mic and says James needs to let go of whatever expectations he has of them since they're all growing up.
Pauly says that Poorman gave him his break by putting him on the radio years back. Drew suggests Pauly dedicates a week of MTV to Poorman. Ironic that Drew was on MTV about 5 years later.
The next call is a 3-way call from Tanya, 15 and Sammy, 15. They are having a fight over a guy and decided to take care of it over the air. Sammy is seeing Tanya's boyfriend behind her back. Things start to get ugly, almost seems as if it's scripted. The "S" word gets dumped after about 30 seconds. Poorman suggests calling up the guy but he's not available. Pauly chimes in with the suggestion to take Sammy so Tanya has her boyfriend back. Tanya's friend get's on the blower and calls Sammy a slut warns he to stay away from the guy. Drew says the guy is the jerk here as he's cheating on Tanya in the first place. The guys say that both girls should dump the guy. They two girls continue to call each other names with Pauly talking at the same time.
Dave declares that Pauly is the only person he knows that will hit on a girl 24/7. He once was on a plane showing his movie and brought the stewardess home with him.
After a break it's Drew solo as everyone else went out to get a soda or something. Drew starts to take a call then Poorman comes into the studio and has everyone sing the Loveline jingle. Apparently there is a 4 month old baby in the studio.
It's stated that Doug is doing "sit-down'' comedy (wheel chair joke).
John, 18 asks Drew is he's ever seen a boil. Drew has to yell at Pauly to stop interrupting. John describes something that his girlfriend has on her neck. Drew says it could even be a Shanker. Poorman and Pauly then decide his first son should be named "Shanker Shore." Drew gives some medical advice with Pauly still talking in the background and asks if Listerine could help out. Drew says no...
34:02 Katie, 21 claims she came home to watch a VHS tape and when she presses play she sees her mom and her boyfriend having sex. It was an unlabeled tape that was just lying around. Poorman asks Pauly if he thinks the call is bogus. Drew says he feels like it is since it's such a sensitive subject. Dave and Doug reveal that the Poorman was in an issue of Playgirl from 1984 and were quite disturbed by it. Pauly says "relationships come and go but parents are something you'll have forever," meaning she should talk the mom first.

Love the vintage LL but underwhelmed by the Poorman. Lots of bizarre calls and 3 way calls (more annoying than fun – 2 friends fought over a guy and a daughter fights with her mom). Pauly Shore sounds turbo tanked and tries to offer the callers advice but mostly just annoys the crap out of Drew.
It is revealed in this episode that Poorman gave Pauly Shore his big break on radio when he was still just an unknown stand-up comedian. So apparently Poorman is responsible for inflicting Pauly Shore upon the world.
