Interesting show. Energetic. Howie does a very good job filling in for Adam.
Whoa. Joseph, the creepy 49 year old caller who tries to get the number of an earlier 19 year old victim. Sounds like he is talking through a voice changing device.
Then Jake gets Howie and Drew to help him ask this girl out. Hilarity/frustration ensues.
Does anyone know if they actually ended up following up with Jake and how his date with the girl Howie and Drew desperately bartered out of her?
I normally don’t care for Howie but the bit about the “sandwiches & pants & love & candy & roses” with the creepy 49 year old caller was pretty funny. I kept thinking about the movie Bad Santa every time he brought up the sandwiches.
I think Jake was doomed. It didn’t sound to me like the girl was into him at all and I think she felt cornered into committing to something by the guys and then having the whole thing aired on national radio was the nail in their relationship coffin.
@yayer: Sadly, we almost never heard about follow-ups. Once in a while a caller would make a second call and bring up their first call, but we never heard them say, “So-and-so called three weeks ago and now we have them on the line.”
The Jake/Danielle call and the creepy guy were great! Howie was surprisingly good.
Wow – Howie is a pretty great filler for Adam. I had never listened to one of his featured episodes before- but his comments are pretty much on par with the angle Adam comes from while dishing humor based on serious medical issues.
Joseph reminds me of Rusty Nail from the movie Joy Ride.
Howie brings Adam’s style of humour with the non-sequitor comments, sarcastic clarifications, and un-upsmanship. It’s almost like he had been training to fill Adam’s slot.
I’ve never really been a big Howie Mandel fan but he is actually pretty good here. He’s no Adam but better than most other guest hosts.
I don’t agree with some of the comments here. HM is neither funny nor interesting here. Also, while Adam can be “mean” to callers while still being funny and emphatic, Howie is just being a dick to them.
He was better than Stryker, but that’s a very low bar to clear.
Just after I posted my prev. comment, Joseph’s (49) call came up 00:17:52 , and what could have been comedy gold and a classic call was turned to shit by that dick howie just ripping into poor Joe.
That could have become Loveline’s own Big-Foot ffs!
At first I just didn’t like him, now I hate that stuck up, useless little sociopathic shit.
