Plenty of football talk but this proves to me that athletes make so much better guests. I don't know who these guys are but their humor is spot on and rolls really well throughout the show.

Lots of football talk but still a pretty good episode.

I prefer shows with no guests, because I like more calls and more drops. That said, I really liked this show.

Jerry Crafts, in my mind, may be the best guest Loveline ever had. He had a self-depreciating sense of humor. He fit in with the hosts and the format very well And, he could be serious when the situation called for it, like when he related to a caller by recalling his own experiences with substance abuse triggered by loneliness and boredom.

And, I agree with Drew and Adam about the XFL. I do now, and I did at the time.

Nice having some football players in, albeit unknown guys. QB tommy Maddox calls in for a bit and does kind of sound like he's done the Vicodin once or twice haha

The sound was Snood. Clearly whoever ripped it (and early 2000s was prime Snood playing time) somehow bled into the recording.

what's with the old-school Nintendo sound effects mixed in underneath this recording???

15yo caller at 58 minutes: "I don't like my psychologist. He's like Santa Clause but more of an asshole."
Adam: "More of an asshole than even Santa Clause? I find that hard to believe."

One of the guests gets into his own addiction around 80 minutes.

Good show overall.

Good episode, Adam is good, guest laugh along and get some jokes in too.

The guests are good. I dig it when guests laugh a lot at Adam's humor. I think Adam gives more of a shit to continue to make them laugh.

Oh Westwood None.... No disagreement on the date btw, multiple sources have this as the correct date, just wanted to make sure, good times!

Actually, at some point it was mentioned that The Powers That Be told Anderson to drop the drops, so to speak. I looked at a note I made for the 2001-03-08 show and at the end Adam basically said, "Good news, next week Anderson can get back to playing those drops you kiddies love so much."
Thursday, 8/4/2011 at 10:22 PM EDT
Ahh understood. Maybe Anderson was sticking it to 'the man' and playing his drops anyway that night, who knows?

unclepenny: my response (I didn't mean the date was wrong) showed up *before* your comment for some reason.

Are you saying the date might be wrong?

This show has two things going against it:

1. It's from the "No Drops Era." From (I think) the first show of 2001 to the 2nd week of March, Anderson was forbidden to play the drops we know and love. This happened again in early 2002, although I can't delineate it as clearly.

2. It's from the "Pre-Bogosity Era," For years, Adam and Drew weren't really on the lookout for bogus calls. It's weird to hear them give a free pass to a kid who says, "My girlfriend likes to bring her dog onto the bed when we're having sex. Is that normal?"

Actually, 3. Someone is playing Space Invaders or some other arcade game with a lot of "beep beep" and "boop boop," and you can hear it all quite clearly.

No, nothing wrong with the date as far as I know. I just meant that a lot of shows from early (Jan-Mar) 2001 are kind of dull. But I love the drops, so maybe that's just my take.

As far as the "Pre-Bogosity," the Mason Jar Challenge, so to speak, didn't really get going until the summer of 2001, approximately.
