Awesome chemistry between Ace and Kari. This is my all time favorite Loveline.
Kind of a sad episode. Kari’s attraction to Adam appears authentic in the first half; while nutty, she seems genuinely interested in him (the few drunken 1am calls she’d placed to Adam out of the blue are mentioned) and their flirtation is convincing. But things rapidly disintegrate in the second half. After a lot of juvenile attention-seeking (dirty songs, hyperbabbling etc.) and a jag about “being honest about who you are” before one can have an orgasm early in one’s sexual career so inane my jaw (and I’m sure Adam and Drew’s) was left hanging, Adam says what’s attractive about Kari is her dissimulation: she’s a woman who’ll persuade you she’s romantically interested in you and that you have a shot, when you’ve not “a snowball’s chance in hell”.
Interesting to watch Ace go from smitten, greedily rubbing his palms at the prospect of driving Kari home (they live within blocks of each other), to tacitly disgusted with her base and characteristically “spoiled hot girl” behavior and ludicrous half-baked opinions. Kari Wuhrer reveals herself to be a dumb and insipid woman, Adam halfheartedly buries the last quarter.
Interesting analysis, spoudini. I’m gonna give this one another listen with that in mind.
Also, maybe there is a glitch in the “other shows with this guest” code, because Kari was a guest for half of the 1999-04-12 show (one of the rare two-separate-guests shows).
Guest gets hella annoying because it is clear she is a blowhard that doesn’t know what she is talking about.
This chick sounds high. I’m also listening with spoudini’s commentary in mind.
Also love the DAG barf drop after her blowhard rant at 31:45.
Spoudini was spoud-on. I mean spot-on. At one point Kari basically admits she liked Adam, she gave him an opportunity, he didn’t take it and it damaged her ego.
This chick is a total nutbag. No surprise Adam didn’t take her up on her advances.
The diatribe about how men and women are exactly the same emotionally except that we’re totally different is astonishing. You can tell Drew looses interest in debating her by the end.
One of my favs. I think people who negatively reviewed this episode didn’t get her sense of humor.
I am sorry but Kari wasn’t that bad, she is was very eccentric and said strange stuff but being original is something one should cherish and enjoy.

The guest was obnoxious and stupid. Tried hard to sound funny and intelligent but came off like she was on drugs. Doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about. Not entertaining.
35 minutes in, hearing Kari describe Japanese anime porn is hilarious. Anderson has the perfect drop.

She does come off sounding like she’s at least drunk lol. But yea very kind of unstable in a sort of way, no wonder she’s attracted to Adam. I guess I listened to another episode with her and don’t even remember it. I was laughing when she said “do men watch sports with other men patting each other on the butt To release their homosexual tendencies?”
I think she was adorable here. She was feisty without coming off as aggressive, and untethered without ever quite becoming annoying. Also, the way she was able to mix it up with Adam and Drew without at any time seeming troubled by the thought that she could be out of her depths granted her an air of self-possesedness that suited her beautifully. Her comments, while admittedly expressed in the rambling parlance of a hollywood starlet, were consistently interesting and insightful. She’s the type of quirky, tomboy chick you bring with you when you want to spend a week in your bedroom, hiding from society, playing X-box and eating cookies.

Probably the most annoying guest I’ve heard on Loveline thus far… :/
Kari is not the most annoying guest but she definitely sounds like she’s on drugs.
Back when Loveline episodes were barely a thing, circa 2003, I had one of the Napster successors, Morpheus, which was hacked and murdered; this was one of my first ever Loveline episodes on my computer, and yes Kari is nuts; but she shows what a wild guest can bring out in Adam and Drew, as well as showing she has herself perhaps had some therapy in the way she expresses herself and I think Drew catches that and backs off of her. Adam was like this in the early days with Fiona Apple (another great show even though she was kind of a bitch), and Kari, and Minka; before he was tired of Hollywood he was smitten with these crushes and it’s fun the way he falls all over himself flirting with Kari. The callers are all pretty standard, this is a lot like the Minka show where it’s just fun to listen to if you aren’t feeling like callers . She isn’t a brain surgeon, no argument here, but we don’t know what bipolar disorder is like, I would love to have a happy mania once like her. And I don’t care what y’all say, her Scrotum song has been in my head for 15 years 😜
And let’s face one possible fact….she may be that rare normal happy person that annoys everyone because she doesn’t care you don’t like her noise and she’s going to be herself regardless. I really love this episode !
Man, listening to a crazy bipolar person talk is actually exhausting. It really drives me crazy when the guests straight up disagrees with the hosts but doesnt really put any useful information back. That said it wasn’t a bad episode, just the energy level was way too high for my taste.

Love it or hate it, this is the episode with Kari singing her “scrotum” and “slut” songs. She is a bundle of manic energy and a very unique voice on the show.
This is a good episode, many comments about Kari…but honestly she was better than many female guests and she isn’t getting credit for like being a person with personality. There were barely any comments on the Carmen Electra episode and ahe was kinda a dud guest. If anything this episode had some crappy calls and only can do so much.
Good episode but she starts to get in my nerves toward the end
