A really cool show, Entertainment Tonight was filming in studio and Poorman digs at Drew a little bit about taking all the calls and wanting to be on TV.
This is when Drew starts to sound more like the Drew we know. He starts predicting caller’s pasts based on their current problems, and starts getting more involved in the show, which Poorman doesn’t seem to like.
His complaints about Drew hogging the first three calls confirms something I’ve noticed from these early shows. There used to be more of a clear delineation between the hosts, where Drew would hang back and only participate on certain calls that were of a more medical nature. On the really old shows you could even hear Drew piping up in the background occasionally, indicating that he didn’t even have a microphone much of the time unless he was called in for specific calls.
It took him nearly ten years.
