  1. Did anyone else get creeped out by Ben Stein drooling over that 16 year old? For the curious, Ben was almost 54 at the time of the recording.

I have heard the “fart in the coffee can” story a thousand times, but this telling easily had me laughing the hardest. Ben seems truly shaken by lack of seriousness from everyone else in the studio given the heavy calls they receive.

Jimmy’s first appearance on the radio show. He probably talks the least of the four of them but nearly everything he says is funny. They are there to promote Win Ben Stein’s money.

Ben has his dog in the studio because his wife told him to take it because it was driving her crazy. He is quite empathetic with all the callers but the 16 year old girl thing was pretty creepy. For a smart guy it’s pretty funny that he didn’t anticipate how bad that would sound. Also funny that Drew didn’t really lecture the caller like he normally would so as not to contradict Ben and make him look even creepier.

    4/5

Really nice show. Jimmy was kind of quiet this episode, but Ben was a great guest, he was quite insightful and explained why some of his advice which was out of the norm was legitimate. He also kept bringing up how sad every call was, and this episode was especially sad in my opinion. Lots of really serious calls other than the “am I gay” ones.

Damn y’all. Stein and Drew are opposites for sure but they’re both very smart and good people. Stein is naive though, for being so smart, and that comes through loud and clear. Can’t say he’s a creep though

Yea it’s pretty clear that Ben is not really prepared for the subject matter of the show. He doesn’t really understand the concepts nearly as well as other future shows. Jimmy is still a great guest like other future episodes.

had to shut it off because stein is the worst

Like everyone says, he leads with the creepiest commentary about 5 mins in and adopts the contrarian role to assert himself as the smartest person in the studio

I wish adam and drew would have straightened him out a bit more on that first call…I am pretty sure they would have laid into the kid pretty hard if it would have been just them but they kinda just let stein get away with some advice that is both creepy and toxic

Kinda surprised at all the rancor here torward Jimmy and Ben. Ben was saying young nubile women are attractive – which they are. He wasn’t saying that made it okay to pursue 16 year olds sexually, just that there’s nothing wrong with finding them attractive. Anyone who can’t make that distinction is incredibly naive. Ben is funny, very smart, and insightful.

And although Jimmy is a shill now for the left wing nutjobs, back in the day he was actually pretty funny. (Say what you want about modern day Ace, but unlike Jimmy, he’s never changed; people’s perceptions have changed. Talk about being Woke!)

Lastly, a lot of homo calls this episode. I suspect the Alley chick at about 1:10 is bogus. Surprised Drew and Adam didn’t pick up on it. Sounded like she just wanted to get on the radio (“You guys wanna gamble, huh-hee huh-hee…????!!”)
