Wow – first caller is a gem – complains about only attracting guys that “want to bang” her. A breathy, kooky rape victim who is thankfully bogus and hangs up. Talk about skinheads, garbage rant towards the end.
Why on earth doesn’t Drew know why those autonomic nervous system responses occur and how they’re functional and evolutionarily advantageous? A lot of what Adam’s describing is part of the good old “fight or flight” response we all learn about when we’re just kids. Just an adaptive function of the sympathetic nervous system. I can’t believe a doctor doesn’t know about that. He must. I guess he’s just confused. There are tons of bodily functions that shut down or activate, and each change is specifically designed to ready us for facing the threat our brain is communicating to our body about. Non-essential functions of the digestive and reproductive systems are inhibited, heart rate increases, we may even evacuate our bladders or bowels to lighten our load/take care of elimination so we don’t have to bother with it while we deal with stressors. I keep finding Drew saying dumb shit or not saying what he ought to in 1998. Dang it all.
God I hope I don’t come off like this much of a tool. I guess I probably do. Dang it all.
TIL that there are non-racist skinheads. They call themselves S.H.A.R.P.s (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice).
Adam asks if you’re a skinhead against racism aren’t you just a normal guy with a shaved head? Why call yourself a skinhead at that point?
