Show Summary:

  1. Hahaha. About 28 minutes int, Adam talks ‘tard to the caller. It’s great. “Drew thinks maybe you went wee wee when you had the big O.”

The guest were pretty quiet for the most part. The husband didn’t really talk at all, and the wife chimed in a few times, but it felt forced. It makes me curious how that dinner went, haha.

Adam opens the show by embarrassing Drew by announcing that Drew gave absolutely nothing to the tsunami relief fund, while he himself gave $3,000 and David — the guest and contest winner — gave $15,000. They go back and forth and gripe at each other until it escalates to Drew saying the tsunami relief fund is all just a big PR thing for people to give to in order to make themselves look noble essentially.

    Adam: “What about David here?”

Drew: “Well he had to get on the radio.”

Lol. Love this show. They just shit on their sponsors, their upper management, their studio, their guests sitting right next to them, whatever.

David and his wife are fans of the show, that much you can tell. They aren’t very talkative, but participate a little throughout the show. Early on, Adam tends to lay his schtick on pretty heavily, if for no other reason than to fill time that they thought would be spent talking to the guests. As Crono91 said, the dinner beforehand must’ve been somewhat awkward and that seems to bleed over into the show. These aren’t celebrities or professional entertainers who are used to being on the radio, so you can forgive them. It’s not a classic episode, but certainly worth a listen if for no other reason than the novelty of having fans of the show on the mic, whether or not they’re charismatic (they’re not). But good for them for donating, when even a do-gooder like Drew couldn’t be bothered to do the same.

As I’ve mentioned in a previous comment, Adam’s endless rants barely allowed this couple to speak. It’s almost as if they weren’t even there. He should have allowed them to pick the calls like he suggested at the beginning of the show.

The Tsunami talk is uncomfortable, but it’s even worse than it sounds. I believe at the beginning of 2005 Adam’s salary had been reduced by half while Drew’s stayed the same and Drew didn’t stick up for Adam on the issue. Add to that the fact that Drew had spent a good portion of the new year out of the studio doing speaking engagements and filming a TV show and it meant that Drew was making a lot more money than Adam. They both came across as horrible and petty here- Adam being particularly harsh because of his anger/jealousy with Drew and Drew being unforgivably cheap and unprofessional (I don’t know how he stayed on the air after calling the station’s big charity event a PR stunt… in front of two of the biggest donors from the event).
