Show Summary:

First mentioned on October 19, 2003 and first played on October 26, 2003, Germany or Florida is a game that originated at Jimmy Kimmel Live with the staff of writers who discovered a correlation in the news stories they would read for joke material. Adam observed that "All weird stories emanate from either Germany or Florida." Originally intended as a game to be used on Kimmel's show, it was rejected and Adam decided to bring it to Loveline. The object of the game is to have a listener read off a strange, macabre, or just plain weird news story and have the hosts (and guests) choose Germany or Florida. According to some listeners' best guesses, Adam is about 55% correct, and Dr. Drew is about 40%. Theme songs introducing the game have been created by guests and callers, most notably David Alan Grier's opera and beat-box renditions.

I just listened to the previous episode- with guest Eric Balfour- and I thought they made mention of this phenomenon.

However, I guess it wasn’t officially played or declared as a game. They did have someone call in with a Florida story.

Correct, the Germany or Florida theory is introduced here but it’s not turned into a game yet. A girl says she has a fetish about seeing people wet themselves, which leads Adam to declare that all bizarre/deviant sexual practices are found in either Germany or Florida. The “all bizarre evil” amendment would come later.

Earlier in the show Adam mentions a girl from high school who had the best crazy black name ever: N’Chilla. Cracks me up every time.

Yeah, I think Germany or Florida first came up in an ’03 episode with Dr. Bruce in for Drew. Don’t know exactly when it was but I’ve been listening to all the ’03 episodes every day before work and remember it being mentioned before this.

But yeah, it doesn’t become a game until later.

A conversation from the offices of the Jimmy Kimmel Live:

Adam: “Hey we should get Norman Fell on the show.”

Other Guy: “He died like six months ago.”

    Adam: “….Yeah but still.”

Yea the headline of this episode and the comments are all contradictory in here.

I was listening to these at work and I was editing the wiki article as things would come up. I added a bunch of stuff to the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Loveline_games

And It definitely was mentioned before this. Pretty sure it was 08-14-2003 with Dr. Bruce first. Might have even been mentioned earlier than that.
