Young girl called in and said whenever a guy showed interest in her then she loses interest in him. Drew: Unfortunately it’s a typical theme for girls: want what they can’t have. Also means she isn’t ready for a relationship, if she gets what she can’t have then it won’t be a good relationship.
Adam and Drew talk about how sick sex and the city women are, portrayed horribly: not a liberated woman enjoying her sexuality. Samantha was a sex addicted, trauma surviving, miserable wretched creature who could never have a relationship. Adam… but isn’t that the way with everyone and everything (war heroes alcoholics / captains of industry sociopaths or maniacal or bipolar)? Therein lies the nature of myth, we like to explain things that are digestible to us. People who have drive to have the biggest talk show are the people who are particularly kind to their gardener or 3rd wife… like boos and to beat on their old lady… The people we hold up, get there often based on those negative traits. Begs the question: Why don’t we hold up those who are nice as different than the rest!?
Show about Love: hope that there is love in listener’s life… Adam goes onto to joke that by love he mean’s adult DVD’s. [SOFA KING funny-sauce, I shat a laugh so hard coffee splooged out of my nose (just kidding tried to embellish that).]

Men want hot chicks with low self-esteem (sexual buzzards… ha). Interesting point by DR. DREW: “Women convince themselves, because they are attracted to guys with confidence no matter what they look like, that therefore men are attracted to women with confidence and feel good about themselves too… not true.” [In my opinion it’s a girl whose head, and tits, aren’t inflated like the Hindenburg over her beauty; humility and kindness valued highly contributing to sex appeal]

1:18:00 Girl called in who didn’t want to discuss abuse in her life… initially wanted to figure out how to tell lesbian girl friend that she wasn’t into her like that. Drew’s response: “Critical to her well being and emotion health. Why you think you can dismiss that or think that it doesn’t have a huge, huge, impact on your current relationships is unfortunate.”Don’t pretend the abuse didn’t happen, don’t dismiss it. Go to therapy, get some help… The victim invokes abuse from the abuser, a reoccurring theme with that type of person.
Clinginess: Get life going in every other aspect of life (great for male, not as good for woman). Focus on career, getting to next level of job, every facet of life other than relationship part. Life will be so good that people want to join it. REF: 1/9/2005 and 1/11/2005. Make life as attractive as it can be, SET BIRD FREE, and if it comes back… [haha , but how the fuck will it come back, it hasn’t for me… the beacon fell off] . Emotionally you need to be strong.

A girl calls in wondering what the chances are that she contract AIDS by swallowing semen. This leads to Adam’s classic rant about how AIDS is an equal opportunity killer.

I thought it was odd at the end how Drew said what kind of calls they wanted. He mentions couples whose sex lives have grown dull, people with phobias for kissing/germs, etc. Does anyone know another instance of Adam or Drew telling the listeners which sort of calls they’ll take? (Aside from Adam saying he wants to talk to a chick and not a J-O young dude.)
@dimeforscale, Drew was doing a TV show at the time, on the Discovery Health channel, and was trying to use Loveline as a way to recruit subjects for it.
