Adam/Drew complain about Gorillaz for YEARS to come. The first time I heard this – I kind of found them funny (Murdoc is a phoner an does not stop talking – EVER.) I had to come back and listen again bc they complain about them nearly every episode in the 2005 stream I have been listening to due to a Gorillaz bumper. Gorillaz are annoying and distracting but Adam has some fun with Murdoc’s voice impressions. They really must have sucked because Adam/Drew have serious PTSD.

I’m thinking they may have been a bit bias towards the band due to Damon possibly being on the infamous lost show with Blur that caused Adam and Drew to hate them. Also, them being late probably didn’t help either…

I always found it interesting that Drew (occasionally Adam) complained about the Gorillaz and even on this site, above users have stated how they find that “the guy with the deep voice [murdoch] is so annoying.” I re-listened to it last night after many years and found it to be hysterical. Murdoch’s antics are priceless and in my opinion, this is one of the best Loveline’s out there. Underrated and definitely under-appreciated.

I’ve been listening to June 2005 and they bring up how terrible the Gorillaz were as guests like every other episode so I had to come check it out. I couldn’t even get through this. I had to stop after they played Clint Eastwood.

THIS IS A GREAT SHOW – However, its not a typical loveline show anymore than the Gorillaz are a typical band. You must remember, Murdoc is a cartoon! Dont expect the regular Adam & Drew format; Murdoch steals the show. I found him as funny as he was obnoxious, just like cartoon characters should be. I loved it.

I don’t understand why love line fans don’t get this one, it’s so funny, this episode is less popular than ICP by far and they’re far more rude and obnoxious, and they’re terrific guests too!

Gorillaz’ “Murdoch” is GREAT, especially w/ the AMAZING multi-sequential impressions of James Stewart –> Jack Nicholson –> Mick Jagger –> Michael Caine –> Bobby Deniro –> Joe Pesci

  8. BMacC, Welcome to the site. I hope you’re enjoying Classic Loveline as much as we do. I’m glad you’re adding comments to the shows, but was wondering if you wouldn’t mind limiting yourself to one comment per show. I mean, if you get into a conversation with someone, that’s fine, but I’m just trying to avoid back to back comments by the same user for the same show. Thanks, Chris

I get what they were trying to do. The problem was Murdoch wasn’t that funny. He had one joke in the beginning and the rest of the show he just rambled in a drunken accent. Adam was just pissed because he had to play along an entire show with a guy who really didn’t have any comedic chops.

Wow, this episode really seems to divide people. Put me in the “I enjoyed it” camp. I thought Murdoch was great and Adam seemed to be enjoying it at the time.

Can someone link a show where Adam complains about these guys? He seems to like them on air. They do a 30 minute bit together, for gods sake. It doesn’t seem like he would do that unless he liked them. So I’d have to hear his complaints, but it seems kind of phony to complain about them when he showed no sign of it on the air.
